Former business partner sues Garth Brooks for breach of contract

When business partners make agreements it is essential to fully understand the terms of the contract. Without this type of understanding it can be easy to end up in a legal dispute in Florida or in any other state. Garth Brooks is learning this lesson since he was recently sued by his former business partner for breach of contract. The country singer’s entertainment company spoke on the singer’s behalf and says that Brooks adamantly denies the claims in the lawsuit against him.

The legal complaint filed against Brooks alleges he breached an oral contract as well as claims that the country music star has committed fraud. The entertainment company, which the singer founded, is known as Red Strokes, which is titled after a song that the singer wrote. The plaintiff claims that the singer used a poem she penned as a basis for the song, according to her lawsuit.

The lawsuit also explains that Brooks hired her to help him begin a career in movies and television. The plaintiff claims the singer promised her $250,000 if she did not earn millions of dollars or if the company for any reason stopped doing business. The lawsuit claims that the singer destroyed all potential movie deals due to his own behavior and decisions. The plaintiff also claims in the lawsuit that Brooks used fraud in order to avoid paying state and federal taxes.

Despite the serious allegations, both sides of the breach of contract litigation will have the right present their own side of the story. Just like with any other lawsuit in Florida or elsewhere, the parties in this business litigation action will have to formulate their own legal arguments based upon the facts of the case. Knowledge of business and contract laws as well as court procedure would greatly increase chances of prevailing in court.
