Breach of contract suit filed against home repair company

A couple is suing a home repair company, claiming the agreed-upon work was poorly done and incomplete. The couple claims to have spent in the realm of $80,000 on the contract for property repairs and is suing for breach of contract in a local court. Florida residents understand how frustrating such situations can be and the importance of ensuring contracts are honored by both parties in an agreement.

According to the paperwork filed, the couple hired the contractor in question to conduct repairs on two separate properties. The company initially presented itself as workmanlike, qualified and knowledgeable, but according to the plaintiffs, this was soon to be disproved. The couple paid approximately $67,000 for repairs on one property and a further $18,230 for the other.

The plaintiffs go on to contend that the company overcharged for their services, failed to complete multiple tasks, including carpet installation and driveway repairs, and left behind trash, fingerprints and paint splatters in their wake. There have also been questions as to whether contractors stole items from one of the two locations. The case is being overseen in a local court, and the couple is seeking an undisclosed amount for damages and other costs.

When a company is contracted to complete particular tasks, the understanding is that the company will fulfill those obligations to the best of their ability in order to be paid. A breach of contract occurs when one or both parties fail to live up to their part of the bargain, as Florida residents understand. In this case, if the company is found to be in breach, it may be forced to pay out a relatively high sum to cover the cost of its mistakes.
